In addition to Working Groups, AEGEE-Europe also has several Project Teams: a team that organizes a specific event or series of events around a certain theme for a specific period of time. The AEGEE-L mailing list regularly features open calls calling for applications for certain Project Teams. There are Project Teams in different shapes and sizes, each one giving you a very interesting international experience and is highly recommended. Summer University Project
(1988 – ongoing)
A language is the key to another culture. Since AEGEE has been trying to forge the key to Europe since its inception, it is not surprising that the Summer University Project is AEGEE’s first and most successful project. SU’s are unique. They have been organized on a voluntary basis since 1988 by students from all over Europe with a different frame of reference and cultural background, but with one thing in common: everyone who goes on a SU or organizes one is open-minded (the key word that our association has been for more than 25 years and running).
SUs are extremely cheap and you meet students from all over Europe. You get to know their culture and discover the country as a friend of the “local organizers” instead of as a tourist. Eastern Partnership Project
Currently, there are SUs every summer in around a hundred cities, including Groningen. In addition to Language Courses and Language Courses Plus, there are now also Travel SUs, Summer Events and Summer Courses. SUs are extremely cheap and you meet students from all over Europe. You get to know their culture and discover the country as a friend of the “local organizers” instead of as a tourist. The AEGEE Eastern Partnership Project is the continuation of the successful first phase of the project of that name. The new team of highly skilled and motivated people started work on the second term of in the autumn 2013. The project became officially launched at the Spring Agora Patra 2014.Working in the same direction as the European Union (within the framework of its Eastern Partnership programme) gives a possibility to coordinate the project’s activities with a broader, political perspective. Via cooperation with our Network, governments and non-governmental organisations we believe we can influence the increase of youth power in target societies and bring positive changes in establishing a strong civil society sector.
The project’s values are based on the belief that this initiative is a core element of AEGEE’s mission of bridging Europe. In order to make links between the Eastern and the Western part of our continent we decided to act with the objectives crucial to the development of civil society in Eastern European. The main aims of the project are:
- To promote the idea of active citizenship and youth participation in the Eastern Partnership program region
- To advocate to stakeholders and governments for the recognition of the role that youth participation has in shaping a democratic society
- To empower youth by providing it with knowledge and tools regarding citizens’ rights and duties
- To build Mutual understanding and trust between people from the Eastern Partnership countries and the rest of Europe
- To strengthen partnerships and to share practices with youth organizations from the Eastern Partnership and other European countries
- To promote the respect of human rights as a crucial focus area in the consensus-building processes
- To inform and to create an opportunity for discussion

Y vote Project
Y vote is a European campaign designed to encourage young people in Europe to make an informed choice in the elections to the European Parliament.The project believes that young people need to be better informed about the European elections, European institutions and the European Union in general in order to become active citizens. Therefore, conventions and local actions for AEGEE people and young citizens will be organized over the course of a year and a voting guide will be developed to help voters find their vote in their country.

Europe on Track Project
Europe on Track (EoT) took place in 2012, 2014 and since 2016 it takes place every year. In each edition, selected ambassadors traveled through Europe by train with the support of InterRail to capture the vision of young people about the future of Europe through photos, videos and interviews. In the last edition, twenty local events and more than one hundred interviews were held about sustainable development. This year ‘Europe on Track 6: Which Track’ will take place with the following topic: Euroscepticism. How successful is the European project in 2018? Is it still on the right track to democracy, unity and the better world? These and many other important questions will be answered during EoT.

SMASH – Structural Measures Against Sexual Harassment
From the Autumn of 2017 the AEGEE / European Students Forum has raised awareness and tackled the issue of sexual harassment and consent within our organization. In 2019, thanks to the support of the European Youth Foundation (Council of Europe), AEGEE launches a project with the title S.M.A.S.H .: structural measures against sexual harassment. During this project, AEGEE will be able to further expand its expertise and expand the pool of members who are trained to prevent, detect and respond to sexual harassment cases (called “Safe Persons”). The purpose of SMASH is to create a sustainable system to prevent and address the issue of sexual harassment in (youth) organizations and other events and activities involving young people.
